i found this quote when i was... ummm... well i browsing this random lotr fansite (=P) and listening to elijah wood soundbytes. and he IS like a 20-year old kid, and i just transcribed what he said, so it's not the most elegantly phrased or anything. but i loved it:

we lived, you know, most of us... in the same city for fifteen, sixteen months-- travelling together, late nights together, long hours together, cold weather, everything, all of these elements. And we were doing it together as a force, and in that way, the fellowship became a reality.

just think. how incredibly AWESOME an experience that would be.

hehe okay i'm posting out of sheer enthusiasm for this awesome community, and not because i actually have anything of interest to say yet. but yes, we definitely do need a place to just let out our inner shallow obsessive fans. and of course, to also intelligently discuss film as an artistic medium ^^.

Adding to Jessye's list...
Good Will Hunting
Notting Hill
Donnie Brasco
What's Eating Gilbert Grape
Don Juan DeMarco
Pirates of the Caribbean (no, there is no common thread to the last 4-5 movies. at all :P)
Sound of Music (childhood memories ^^)
Twelve Angry Men
The Pianist
Finding Neverland (i just bought it on DVD... soo exciting. the blooper reel is AMAZING. has anyone seen it?!)

Also I like a lot of the old Disney movies, at least before they went downhill and started making bad sequels of EVERYTHING. like i saw Alice in Wonderland on TV the other day, and it's actually really clever and sharp, which i never noticed when i was little. hehe.

hmm i have more but i can't think of them right now. (and i should be doing homework.) i love a lot of jessye's list too. esp whale rider and LOTR :D
